Definitely not your run of the mill tunic. This kurta/tunic is not just great for yoga or meditation, but the extraordinary embroidery and the notched up style make this one to wear with jeans, or nice palazzos too.
The colors! This one has a brick red ground with beige, gold, khaki and a pinch of blue. This has the fabulous embroidery done in what I'd call a light wheat color.
And oh! What fab embroidery it is. Sadly, I can't post multiple pictures --the embroidery...well it's not just the front, shoulders, and sleeve bottoms -- but the embroidery is also found all around where the sleeves are joined at the armholes, on the top of the sleeves themselves and also at the back. See pictures. It's extraordinary.
So now on to the style. A simple round neckline splits at the front center but there is a covered button with loop closure in that area. Sleeves are long and roomy-wide. The left side of the tunic is rounded (the right side is squared off with 5" side vents for movement) and this is because there is a tie added on that left side that can be ruched to give this one a notched up look. I've included a close up so you can see.
Why are kurtas usually a dime a dozen and this one is just under 40 bucks? It's the embroidery work -- all done by hand-- so detailed, even the flowers themselves are intricate; but you'll find that detail overall. It is one like I've not seen.
This is a one size fits most tunic, and it probably will do just that.
Here are measurements, and they are taken from side to side, so double and subtract your own wiggle room.
OS FITS MOST
Bust: 23.5" and widens
Hip: At about the top of the hidden tunnel where the ruched tie is measures 25.5"
Length: 37" and if you ruch it, the left side will be shorter
If you want the run of the mill, buy one of those dime a dozen 10 buck chuck dusty warehouse ones. If you want one you'll wear again and again, this is for you. Perf for yoga, masseuses (is that spelled right) or anyone wanting a comfortable piece of clothing -- made well and with a few extra bells!
